Shop Hops: Welcome & FAQs

Do you love fabric and inspiration?  Then a SHOP HOP just might be a perfect fit for you!  Imagine traveling to fantastic quilt/fabric shops while earning entries into giveaways - plus sometimes receiving fabric samples and more goodies.  

What is a "Shop Hop"?

In general, Shop Hops occur annually (once a year) during pre-set dates and require participants to (1) register/obtain a Passport, (2) travel to fabric shops and have the Passport stamped, and (3) turn in the completed Passport for Grand Prize Giveaway entries.  Often times, individual shops will feature bonus giveaways specific to their location.

Shop Hop Terminology:

❤   Passport  ~  The Passport is a postcard, brochure, or magazine which lists the participating store locations with a space for a stamp to indicate you visited.

❤   Free  ~   Shop Hop events without any cost to participate.  Simply pick-up or print your "Passport" to participate.  Then begin the fun of traveling to fabric shops to have it stamped.

❤   Paid  ~  An event requiring participants to purchase a Passport to participate.  Often times, Shop Hops with a paid Passport have more prizes.

❤   Regional  ~  A Shop Hop with stores located in a set region or multiple regions of a state but not across the entire state.  Example:  Northeast Nebraska

❤   Statewide  ~  A Shop Hop with stores located across a state.  Example:  Florida

❤   Multi-State  ~  A Shop Hop with stores located in more than one state.  Example:  North & South Carolina

❤   On-line Only  ~  A Shop Hop for online stores only.  Participants browse specific websites.  Often times, "visiting' the on-line store requires the participant to locate a hidden graphic to receive the stamp on their Passport.

❤   In-Person Only  ~  A Shop Hop where participants visit stores in person to have their Passports stamped.

How do I find Shop Hops?

How often are Shop Hops?

In general, a quilt/fabric store may participate in one Shop Hop a year; although, some shops may participate in multiple events.

How long is a Shop Hop?

The duration of a Shop Hop varies.  It is decided by the event organizers.  Some events occur over a couple weeks whereas other a couple months.

How do I register for a Shop Hop?

To register to participate in a Shop Hop, click on the event link to be directed to their information page.

Must I live in the area of the Shop Hop to participate?

Residence is not a requirement.  You can travel to the events and be eligible to enter the giveaways.

Do I travel independently or with a group?

Traveling with friends to explore quilt/fabric shops is definitely a fun choice.  Of course, you can travel independently.  Some Shop Hops have scheduled bus tours to allow for ease of travel.

Am I required to make a purchase at each fabric shop?

Generally you are not required to make a purchase at each store, it is much appreciated.  Your business helps the fantastic quilt/fabric stores thrive so you may return in the future.

Are there special discounts or sales for Shop Hop participants?

Some stores may choose to offer event discounts for participants.  There is no harm in asking.  Maybe you can splurge on a much "needed" piece of fabric.

How do I connect with other "Shop Hoppers" for a specific event?

With today's technology, usually Shop Hops have a designated social media page on Facebook.

Where do Shop Hop participants stay when traveling?

Participants are responsible for their own lodging; although, some events may include a listing of retreat center or hotel/motel discounts.

How long does it take to complete a Shop Hop?

The length of time required to complete a Shop Hop varies by individual.  Many factors play into travel time - plus time spent browsing and shopping at the wonderful stores.

You are welcome to organize your Shop Hop independently or with our partner Shop Hop Inc.  Either method is acceptable.  We have a partnership with Shop Hop Inc. to promote their statewide events.  We encourage all hosts of Shop Hops to share news of their events - small or large - with Let's Quilt Along and our amazing group of over 5,700 quilters worldwide.
